Increase range and performance with the Stage 1 tune from TuneZilla. A rework of our original Stage 1 offering. This tune is also compatible with hardware deletes when the appropriate add-ons are selected.
Stage 3 tuning offers customers off-the-shelf tuning solutions for various hardware combinations. TuneZilla has partnered with Malone Tuning to develop tried and tested hardware upgrade combinations to deliver reliable tune files for the 3.0 TDI CATA engine. If you are simply looking to do a simple turbo upgrade to replace a worn turbo, or want to maximize your power potential, we have a tune file for you. Our tune files require very little hardware upgrades and have been tested to produce the most power without unnecessary upgrades.
Currently, our Garrett 2260VK tune files are available in BETA. You can access these tune files by creating a tune request in the tickets. They are compatible with FlashZilla Pro. If you do not have a FlashZilla Pro dongle, you can purchase one here.
Our Stage 3 tune for the Garrett 2260VK turbo upgrade increases peak torque substantially while utilizing most of the factory fuelling system. The only required hardware upgrades are a 4 bar MAP sensor and the larger 3.0 BiTurbo TDI MAF sensor. The MAF upgrade will aid in smoke control as well as a more linear fuel delivery at higher boost levels.
Improving top end with little sacrifice to low end spool, the Darkside 2566 takes the 3.0TDI to a new level of peak performance. With only a handful of hardware upgrades required, this turbo upgrade is without a doubt, one of the best upgrades for increasing power and maintaining good around town drivability.

Custom Tuning starts at $1999. To get a more accurate cost on your custom tune, please create a ticket and tell us more about your build, and your specific modifications.
If you feel that our existing tune offerings will not work for your application or your intended use, you can request Custom Tuning. Custom Tuning must be requested through our Tickets, and you must provide vehicle information as well as hardware (upgrades) information. Once submitted, our team of calibrators will evaluate your request and determine if Custom Tuning can achieve your goals and if they are able, your Tune Request will be accepted.
Custom Tuning requires heavy participation from the Customer, either through an Authorized TZ Dealer or the Customer themselves. TuneZilla Calibrators will require that the vehicle has access to dyno time when needed, and data logging is required. If you are not comfortable with data logging, and if you may not be able to access a facility with a dyno (many facilities will rent dyno time) custom tuning may not be possible for you.
Custom Tuning vs. Off The Shelf Tuning
We understand that our end users have varying driving styles and build purposes, which is why we offer revisions on all of our Off-The-Shelf tunes. By offering Custom Tuning to our customers, we can be sure you are getting the most out of your vehicle with your specific parts upgrades. Our OTS (off-the-shelf) maps are tested in house with as many variables as possible to ensure even if you don’t want to customize your tune, your vehicle’s OEM sensors and adaptations will still be able to optimize our tunes to your region’s fuel and most bolt-on upgrades. Tune Revisions are not the same as Custom Tunes. See our Terms and Conditions for our re-tune policy (section 4b)
We believe it’s important for our customers to understand what is happening inside their engine so they can make informative decisions. Our LOG VIEWER automatically generates your vehicles data log .csv files into easy to read graphs which can then be viewed by our Calibrators to find areas of optimization on your vehicle. Not only can this data be used to optimize your tunes, but a lot of troubleshooting and diagnosing can be done by comparing requested data to actual data at a glance.
In many cases, custom tuning is not required. If you are unsure if you will benefit from a Custom Tune, you can reach out to our team and upload data logs for them to examine.

Our Stage Plus TCU tune for the Aisin 1000 is a complimentary TCU tune required for use with our Stage 3 ECU tune. To ensure complete driving satisfaction, customers purchasing Stage 3 ECU tunes may download the Stage Plus TCU tune at no cost. This Stage Plus TCU tune raises the factory torque limit to work in conjunction with the additional torque from our Stage 3 ECU tune and activates D mode and S mode gear display ONLY. It is not necessary for Stage 1 or Stage 2 customers as the output of the engine is still within the factory set torque limit. If you are running a Stage 1, 2 or 3 ECU tune and would like to take advantage of the additional features not included in the Stage Plus TCU tune. The Stage 1 TCU tune can be purchased and can include the increased torque limit for Stage 3 customers.

The Stage Plus TCU tune is a complimentary tune that increases the torque limits of the TCU to work in conjunction with our Stage 3 ECU tunes without having to purchase a complete TCU tune. It does not change shift maps or any other behaviours.'Stage Plus' TCU tunes are only deliverable via FlashZilla Pro using the TuneZilla Portal App.Certain box codes may not be available right away. If you don't see 'Stage Plus' TCU option for your vehicle in Instatune, simply request one through the TuneZilla Portal following the prompts in the app.
You've asked, and we've answered. The TuneZilla team has been hard at work with Malone Tuning to develop and finalize a true transmission tune for the Aisin 1000 transmission found in the 3.0 TDI Cayenne, Touareg, and Q7 models - This is not just a pre-dieselgate reflash. Our calibrators have done extensive testing with this tune to bring the best driving experience back to your German SUV, whether you have an ECU tune or not. We've increased the torque limitation in the transmission, as well as recalibrated the shifting points in D and S modes. A quicker and more responsive kickdown means no more waiting when you hit the go pedal to accelerate past slow moving traffic.
INCREASED TORQUE LIMITS
RECALIBRATED SHIFTING POINTS IN DRIVE AND SPORT MODES
REDUCED DELAY IN KICKDOWN RESPONSE DURING ACCELERATION
SHORTENED GEAR SWITCH DURATION
We are constantly learning from real world feedback and testing. After a year of real world use and customer feedback, we have developed two variations of TCU calibrations to cater to a wider range of driving styles. This update to the TCU catalog was an effort to reduce the amount of additional costs to customers who choose custom TCU tuning. Pulling from a variety of driving styles and customer requests, we have released an Autobahn tune, and a Nur-Spec tune.
Autobahn
Nur-Spec
The Autobahn calibration is for the long distance hyper-miler.
With shift points that are designed to keep you in the most efficient gear for maximum fuel efficiency, the Autobahn TCU file is great for highway commuters and long distance drivers who spend most of their time in the right lane maximizing their fuel range.
The Nur-Spec calibration is for the left lane passer and the weekend adventurer.
Adjusting the shift points to be more active and stay within a comfortable powerband for adventuring or left lane passing, the Nur-Spec TCU file is fantastic for those that like to have their vehicle ready to deploy torque at a moments notice with minimal downshifts.
After the Dieselgate scandal, VW updates the firmware in the TCU. This made for a more lethargic driving experience and many owners disappointed in the drivability of their vehicle. Complaints of "throttle lag" are often associated with the ECU tune, however in most cases it is the updated TCU firmware that hampers the driving experience.
Our TCU tunes support pre-fix and post-fix firmwares. When applicable, customers using the FlashZilla Pro or FlashZilla Lite dongles to read their TCU will have the option to revert back to a pre-fix firmware prior to flashing the TCU**. This will help ensure you get the most enjoyment out of your TCU tune.**Only available for select box codes. For more information about reverting your Firmware click here
We recommend the Stage 1 TCU tune for Stage 1 and above ECU tunes. However, it is not a requirement. Our TCU tune will improve driving characteristic and compliment the added torque of the ECU tunes.
Customized version of the standard Aisin 1000 TCU tune.
This tune will require multiple revisions to fine tune. VCDS is recommended.

Before deciding if Custom TCU tuning is right for you, we recommend trying out both of our Stage 1 TCU Versions. If you are still not happy with either version, you can pay the difference to upgrade to a custom TCU tune.
