At TuneZilla, we strive for an OEM level of drivability and reliability. Our team of Calibrators from around the world painstakingly work to deliver repeatable performance on all of our base maps. One of the major differences between our tunes and most of our competitor's tunes is our linear OEM-like throttle response. Where some software tuners increase throttle response to mask the actual output of their tunes by giving a very peaky feeling under acceleration, our tunes are designed to make the most usable and consistent power curve possible to maintain a strong pull without a heavy fall off midway through the power band. All while generating peak power as early as possible in the RPM range. Most off the shelf tunes advertise an attractive peak power figure but suffer from a sudden drop in torque and a lower torque curve throughout the remainder of the RPM range.

Custom Tuning starts at $1699. To get a more accurate cost on your custom tune, please create a ticket and tell us more about your build, and your specific modifications.
If you feel that our existing tune offerings will not work for your application or your intended use, you can request Custom Tuning. Custom Tuning must be requested through our Tickets, and you must provide vehicle information as well as hardware (upgrades) information. Once submitted, our team of calibrators will evaluate your request and determine if Custom Tuning can achieve your goals and if they are able, your Tune Request will be accepted.
Custom Tuning requires heavy participation from the Customer, either through an Authorized TZ Dealer or the Customer themselves. TuneZilla Calibrators will require that the vehicle has access to dyno time when needed, and data logging is required. If you are not comfortable with data logging, and if you may not be able to access a facility with a dyno (many facilities will rent dyno time) custom tuning may not be possible for you.
Custom Tuning vs. Off The Shelf Tuning
We understand that our end users have varying driving styles and build purposes, which is why we offer revisions on all of our Off-The-Shelf tunes. By offering Custom Tuning to our customers, we can be sure you are getting the most out of your vehicle with your specific parts upgrades. Our OTS (off-the-shelf) maps are tested in house with as many variables as possible to ensure even if you don’t want to customize your tune, your vehicle’s OEM sensors and adaptations will still be able to optimize our tunes to your region’s fuel and most bolt-on upgrades. Tune Revisions are not the same as Custom Tunes. See our Terms and Conditions for our re-tune policy (section 4b)
We believe it’s important for our customers to understand what is happening inside their engine so they can make informative decisions. Our LOG VIEWER automatically generates your vehicles data log .csv files into easy to read graphs which can then be viewed by our Calibrators to find areas of optimization on your vehicle. Not only can this data be used to optimize your tunes, but a lot of troubleshooting and diagnosing can be done by comparing requested data to actual data at a glance.
In many cases, custom tuning is not required. If you are unsure if you will benefit from a Custom Tune, you can reach out to our team and upload data logs for them to examine.

To unlock our complete list of DSG features such as Launch Control, and our Autobahn and Nur-Spec features you will need to purchase a Stage 1/2 DSG tune.
Stage 1 ECU
The Stage Plus TCU tune is a complimentary tune that increases the torque limits of the TCU to work in conjunction with our Stage 1 ECU tune without having to use a low torque file. It does not change shift maps or launch control settings.'Stage Plus' TCU tunes are only deliverable via FlashZilla Pro using the TuneZilla Portal App. Certain box codes may not be available right away. If you don't see 'Stage Plus' TCU option for your vehicle in Instatune, simply request one through the TuneZilla Portal following the prompts in the app.
Our DSG tune is a complete re-work of the factory DSG settings. We’ve worked to bring you a perfect all around package that enhances drivability and increases enjoyment. In manual mode, you have full control of your upshifts with the “auto up-shift” disabled. Clutch pressure is increased across all drive modes to handle the increased torque from our Stage 1 or 2 files, but still works with a factory tuned ECU for users who simply demand a more spirited transmission than what the factory supplied.
Race on Sunday. Commute on Monday.
Because not every driver drives the same, we've designed two versions of our TCU tune for the DQ250 found in the 2.0T FWD models. While our competitors may only offer one style of DSG tune based on their own driving preferences, we see requests from customers that prefer a more "daily drivable" Sport mode and others that prefer to have their Sport mode be more aggressive and allow them to stay closer to peak torque in every gear (to reduce the need for a gear kick-down when accelerating hard).
Our solution is to provide our TCU tune in two versions.
Autobahn
The Autobahn is a more compliant Sport mode for highway or city driving. When cruising at a constant speed and a medium-low RPM/Throttle position the Autobahn S-Mode will engage the next gear to bring RPM down and provide a more comfortable driving experience when highway or city driving.
Nur-Spec
The Nur-Spec S-Mode has a more aggressive shift behaviour for spirited or track driving. In S-Mode, when driving at a constant and medium-low RPM/Throttle position, Nur-Spec will remain in gear until a higher RPM or throttle input is reached.
Raised TQ Limiters / Max pressure +/- 14bar
2-Step Launch Control (3500RPM without kickdown / 4000RPM with kickdown)
Reduced Upshift/Downshift delay
Gear display enabled in both drive modes
Quicker Steering wheel paddle response
Raised TQ Limiters / Max pressure +/- 18bar
Quicker steering wheel paddle response
Raised Max RPM in every gear
Auto-Kickdown disabled in M mode
Auto-Upshift disabled in M mode
Dude. Just Drive. If you are using the TuneZilla Portal App to purchase and organize your tunes, you'll be able to download both TCU tune versions to your Tune Library and flash either version when you want using your FlashZilla Lite or FlashZilla Pro dongle. The TuneZilla Portal also supports offline flashing. So you can flash your ECU or TCU anytime with files that you have downloaded to your TuneZilla Portal.
After flashing your TCU, you must Reset the following parameters in your TCU basic settings (using VCDS or similar)- Reset Clutch Characteristic- Reset Logging Data for Clutch 1- Reset Logging Data for Clutch 2
These parameters must be reset otherwise clutch pressures will not increase
D-Mode parameters are the same between Autobahn and Nur-Spec. Only the S-Mode parameters are changed.
Nur-Spec is modelled after our European customers driving styles with higher speed limits.
Autobahn is generally more popular for North American (daily driving situations)
Both versions are included in the purchase price of the Stage 1/2 DSG tune.
