You asked for it. We delivered. TuneZilla now has several new tune offerings for the B9 Audi A4 & A5. This includes tunes that support multi-port injection (MPI), flex fuel, hybrid turbo and on/off crackles on demand for the B9 Audi A4 & A5.Over the past few months, we have been hard at work developing on the B9 A4 & A5 platform, turning our Audi A4 from a calm daily driver into a track monster.What is MPI?MPI is multi-port injection. This adds four more injectors into the intake manifold, creating compatibility for port injection while keeping the direct injectors in use. This allows for far more fueling and ethanol support. This also allows better fine-tuning and helps significantly reduce carbon buildup on the intake valves.TuneZilla is first to release MPI tunes in North AmericaWhile in Europe, the B9 platform comes with MPI, that wasn’t the case in North America. Until now. TuneZilla has released an MPI tune for the B9 platform for all our North American customers. At the time of this blog, we are still developing MPI for the earlier stages and other turbos. For now, we have MPI paired with our TCD600 Stage 3 tune package.Go flex or go homeTuneZilla now offers flex fuel tunes for the B9 Audi A4 & A5. With the simple installation of a flex fuel sensor, MPI customers can now enjoy full flexibility of fueling from 93 octane to E60+. This system automatically reads the ethanol percentage in the car every few milliseconds and adjusts the car’s tune on the fly for proper readings.Snap, Crackle and PopMany of you wanted on/off crackles. So we listened. On/off crackles are now available for Stage 2 and higher with a downpipe upgrade. Owners can simply switch them on the fly with the flick of the cruise control stalk.Bigger is betterWith all these additions to the B9, we were able to combine them and install a hybrid turbo from Turbo Concepts called the TCD600, getting us over 500 wheel HP and 450 TQ.But won't stop here. We are going to explore some other big turbo options such as the TTE440L. We’ll also see how far we can push the stock turbo with flex fuel and MPI enabled. Stay tuned.How big is too big?During our tuning process, we found some limitations in terms of hardware. No one in North America has pushed these cars this hard — or this far — yet. We discovered the limitations of the stock clutches. Once past the 430 HP wheel mark at the top of the RPM band, the stock clutches started to slip under throttle as they weren't able to keep up with the power. We had to install upgraded clutches in our transmission in order to keep up.We can't stress this enough. This tune and hybrid turbo package is meant for enthusiasts who want it all. This can come at a cost, and owners need to ensure the car is in proper working order. Depending on how the car is used, we also urge customers to maintain and pay close attention to the drivetrain components.
