Since it's inception, the DSG transmission has reshaped how we view automatics and sparked ongoing debate about whether manual transmissions should go the way of the Dodo. For years, the DQ250 has been a staple throughout the VW line up, with each new generation getting improvements over the last. Now, with the MQB platform, we're faced with VW's most up to date version of the DQ250.At TuneZilla, we've worked to bring you a perfect all around package that enhances drivability and increases enjoyment across the board. With an increase in clutch pressure we're able to control more torque being produced by our ECU tunes. We're also able to improve driving characteristics of the transmission with a stock ECU tune to address some common complaints of the factory DSG tune.Because not every driver is the same, we've designed 2 versions of our Stage 1 and Stage 2 DSG tunes for the DQ250. With feedback from our customers around the globe, we found that there were generally two major driving styles that required slight differences in the TCU tune to behave more intuitively for the operator. We've coined these two styles "Autobahn" and "Nur-Spec". For most daily driving scenarios, customers would find the Autobahn tune more intuitive for driving at constant speeds and moderately aggressive driving styles. While the Autobahn tune is more rounded out for an every day driver, the Nur-Spec tune comes with more aggressive shift points and removes the auto upshift and downshift features in Manual mode. Focused on more spirited drivers and track day enthusiasts who may be less concerned with fuel mileage and comfort.AutobahnNur-SpecThe Autobahn is a more compliant Sport mode for highway or city driving. When cruising at a constant speed and a medium-low RPM/Throttle position the Autobahn S-Mode will engage the next gear to bring RPM down and provide a more comfortable driving experience when highway or city driving. The Nur-Spec S-Mode has a more aggressive shift behaviour for spirited or track driving. In S-Mode, when driving at a constant and medium-low RPM/Throttle position, Nur-Spec will remain in gear until a higher RPM or throttle input is reached.Raised TQ Limiters / Max pressure +/- 14bar2-Step Launch Control (3500RPM without kickdown / 4000RPM with kickdown)Reduced Upshift/Downshift delayGear display enabled in both drive modesQuicker Steering wheel paddle responseRaised TQ Limiters / Max pressure +/- 18bar2-Step Launch Control (3500RPM without kickdown / 4000RPM with kickdown)Reduced Upshift/Downshift delayGear display enabled in both drive modesQuicker steering wheel paddle responseRaised Max RPM in every gearAuto-Kickdown disabled in M modeAuto-Upshift disabled in M modeIn both Autobahn and Nur-Spec styles, the D-mode parameters are similar and an OEM+ driving characteristic is maintained. It's important to note, that when flashing the TCU, you must also reset certain parameters in your TCU basic settings (using VCDS or similar) to ensure that the updated clutch pressure parameters are able to calibrate. Our DSG Tunes for the DQ250 are also compatible with our FlashZilla Lite and FlashZilla Pro dongle (some box codes may not be compatible right away) so you can flash your TCU from home and switch from the Autobahn tune to the Nur-Spec tune for a weekend track day and then back to the Autobahn tune for your Monday commute to the office. To view more of our DSG tunes and see the features available for your vehicle, visit our Tune Catalog
