We've been quietly at work developing our 1.8T EA888.3 tune catalog over the last few weeks. Previously, we had released our tunes for the stock IS12 turbo for the 1.8T platform. With the addition of an HPA downpipe, we were able to tune the stock IS12 running engine to a respectable 199 WHP and 254 FT/LB of torque. Our development car is now fitted with an OEM IHI IS20 turbocharger from a MK7 GTI 2.0T EA888.3 engine and mated to the same HPA downpipe that we originally installed for our Stage 2 development with the IS12 turbo. We have squeezed another 18 FT/LB of torque and an extra 50 WHP out of the very capable 1.8T EA888.3. *The below dyno graph shows a comparison between the Stock Golf, our Stage 2 (IS12), and our Stage 2 (IS20) tunes. * What we are really happy about is the new power curve. While the peak numbers are already nice to see, drivers will also notice a flatter power band at a more useable RPM range. Not only does the IS20 turbo deliver more power, it keeps you in it for longer. As you can see in the comparison graph, the stock IS12 turbo starts to run out of steam where the IS20 turbo upgrade maintains a steady peak power for almost 1000 more RPM.
